MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — Law enforcement officers in Montego Bay reported that they arrested an active member of the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) after they found more than US$40,000 in his possession at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.

According to reporting, at about 1:30 pm, Tuesday, August 8, 2023, the JDF member arrived on the island. And during the routine security checks, agents found US$40400 in his possession, which he could not adequately account for.
The police arrested the soldier and withheld his name pending further investigation.
Man charged over attack, robbery at Ocho Rios Food Market
Last Saturday, August 5, 2023, the Ocho Rios police charged a St Ann man with robbery concerning an incident at the Ocho Rios Food Market on July 9, 2023.
The police charged Winston Richmond, o/c ‘Pirate’ or ‘Jack Sparrow,’ age 46, a store worker of Ocho Rios, with wounding with intent and robbery with aggravation.
According to the police, on July 9, 2023, at about 11:45 pm, the complainant was sitting inside the market when Richmond allegedly attacked him, used a piece of iron pipe, and struck him several times on the head—then robbed the complainant of an undetermined sum of money and a cell phone.
The complainant made a report to the police. The police activated an investigation, leading them to arrest Richmond on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
The police subsequently charged Richmond in the presence of his attorney.
Richmond’s court date is pending.
St Catherine police said 5 of 8 men listed as persons of interest surrendered.
The St Catherine police reported that five of the eight men they named as persons of interest recently turned themselves in.
The police believe the men are the leading players in the ongoing violence in sections of the Catherine South Police Division, especially Portmore and Gregory Park.
The police identified the men as Phillip Scott, o/c ‘Phillip’ or ‘Trooper,’ Ryan Muir, otherwise called ‘Titti Man,’ a man known only as ‘Bwoy Bwoy,’ another man who goes by the name ‘Chad,’ and Giovanni Newell, o/c ‘Gio.’
According to the cops, the men are from the Banga Gully section of Gregory Park.
Law enforcement officers had asked the men to report to the Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch by midday on Monday afternoon, August 7, 2023, for questioning concerning recent cases of murder, shooting, and arson.
