According to reporting, at least 15 people, including women and children, are homeless after thugs allegedly set fire to their abode in Portmore Villa, Gregory Park, St Catherine, on Sunday, July 30, 2023.
A release from the Portmore CIB stated that at about 5:30 am on Sunday, July 30, 2023, the victims were awoken when several men armed with rifles and handguns kicked in a door and invaded the dwelling.
The mob confiscated the occupants’ mobile phones, poured gasoline on the eight-bedroom structure, and set it ablaze before escaping–no one was hurt.
Concerned citizens alerted the police and the fire departments. Upon arrival, the fire department performed a cooling-down operation on three structures engulfed by the fire.
The estimated damage is pending.
The police have increased their presence in the area and asked citizens to cooperate with security forces.
Meanwhile, the St Catherine South Police said they would not relent in their efforts to stamp out crime. And they would continue to conduct operations to reduce the opportunities for criminals to commit crimes.

Little London residents want cattle farmers to secure their animals after cop’s death.
Residents in Little London, Westmoreland, asked cattle farmers to secure their animals following three collisions, one of which was fatal on the New Hope main road.
The latest incident occurred about 8:15 Sunday night, July 30, 2023, when Constable Tajay Ebanks’s motorcycle collided with a cow.
Constable Ebanks was attached to the Westmoreland Police Division’s Traffic Department. The authorities pronounced him dead at the hospital.
According to reporting, the cop had been working at the Wet and Wild party in Negril and was on his way to Savanna-la-Mar, hoping to return to Negril for another party where he was assigned to continue working for the night.

According to reporting, armed thugs shot three men, two fatally, along Mountain View Avenue, St Andrew, Sunday night, July 30, 2023.
The police said the incident occurred at about 10 pm on Sunday–unknown assailants shot and injured three men at a residence on Mountain View Avenue.
Two of the men later succumbed to their injuries, while a third was hospitalized in critical condition.
The Police Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the shooting.
