Barnett Street detectives are probing the death of an older adult whom unknown assailants shot multiple times and then set his body on fire Sunday morning, June 11, 2023.

The authorities identified the deceased as Tony Allen, age estimated in the late 60s, of New Road District, Cambridge, St James.

According to reports, at about 3 am, Sunday, June 11, 2023, men armed with M-16 rifles went to a yard along Deans Lane in Down Town Montego Bay, where Allen was staying with family members.

The gunmen reportedly opened fire, hitting Allen several times before setting his body on fire with a Molotov cocktail.

The shooters fled the scene in a Toyota Voxy minibus.

Citizens summoned the police to the scene. Upon arrival, the police found Allen’s burnt body lying face down with multiple gunshot wounds.

Gunmen invaded Whithorn Police Station.

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Law enforcement officers and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) have launched investigations into an attempted invasion of the Whithorn police station in Westmoreland Sunday night, June 11, 2023.

According to preliminary reports, on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at about 11:40 pm, police officers on duty were alerted of the intruders by barking dogs on the premises. The police went to make checks, and two armed men confronted them. The police took evasive action and discharged their firearms toward the men. The men ran and escaped in a waiting car.

Neither of the cops received any injuries.
