Police charged woman with Labor Day double-murder in Portland.

PORTLAND, Jamaica —Gumshoes assigned to the Major Investigations Division (MID) have charged a woman for the May 23, 2023, double-murder of a man and a woman along Campbell Avenue in Port Antonio, Portland.

The police identified the accused as Jody-Ann Jackson, age 28, a bar operator and nail technician at Anchovy Land Settlement in Portland. The police charged her concerning the deaths of Shadae Pink, age 23, of Campbell Avenue, Port Antonio, Portland, and Kieno James King, age 23, of Johns Town District, Portland.

According to the Port Antonio police, at about 11:00 pm, May 23, 2023, both victims were among a group of persons playing dominoes when Jackson drove a Toyota Fielder motorcar to the area; one man exited and opened gunfire at them. 

When all was said and done, Pink, who was in her third trimester, and James were seen suffering from gunshot wounds. The police assisted them to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The police launched an investigation and took Jackson into custody. The police charged her with murder on Monday, May 29, 2023.

The police seized guns and ammo during operations in three parishes.

The police High Command reported success after targeted operations in three parishes resulted in the seizure of three guns and over 30 rounds of ammunition and two arrests.

The operations occurred in St Catherine, Clarendon, and Westmoreland on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

According to the Portmore police, at about 5:00 am, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Law enforcement officers raided a house on Wallen Avenue in Braeton, St Catherine. And they found one 9mm Taurus pistol with ten cartridges. Barrington Davis, o/c ‘Jah Sent,’ age 34, a musician, was arrested and charged with illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition.

Over in Clarendon, the police also recovered one .38 revolver containing six cartridges. The police found the weapon wrapped in a white Merino in a black bag on an open lot on Windsor Avenue in May Pen. The police said no arrests were made concerning the seizure.

In Westmoreland, the Frome police seized a 9mm pistol containing 16 cartridges and another magazine with five cartridges inside a house on Black Heath Road, Georges Plain, Westmoreland. The police said they took one man into custody pending further investigations.

In the meantime, the police are appealing to citizens to report guns, gunmen, and gangs by calling the nearest police station or Crime Stop at 311.
