MANCHESTER, Jamaica — On Tuesday morning, March 21, 2023, gunmen beat a security guard during an attempt to rob an NCB ATM at Bank House Mall in Mandeville, Manchester. 

According to a police source, the incident occurred at about 2:00 am Tuesday while the guard was on duty. Then, the source said, the gunmen physically assaulted the security guard and vandalized the ATM. But they were not able to remove the cash. As a result, the security guard had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. 

The Manchester police have stepped up their presence in locations where ATMs and money couriers are located. 

The attempted robbery came two days after a boldfaced attack on Beryllium couriers in Portmore. Three security guards were shot and injured, and the robbers escaped with J$23.3 million.

School administrators summoned the police to Queen’s after an incident involving students.

 KINGSTON, Jamaica – School administrators at Queen’s High School in St Andrew summoned the police to the institution Tuesday morning, March 21, 2023, following an incident involving students at the school.

According to reports, three students went on a roof at the institution and refused to come down. According to Observer Online, at least one of the students threatened to jump.

It is not yet known precisely what spurred the students to climb onto the roof, but unconfirmed reports suggested that an internal conflict between fourth-form students might be the reason.

The police have declined to comment on the developments, but our newsroom understands that a team of officers is now speaking to the students and principal at the school.

Further reports indicate a series of fights between students at the institution on Tuesday.

Efforts to contact a member of the institution for comment were unsuccessful.
