A man who tried to elude the police charged with firearm breach

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, St Elizabeth detectives recovered a .380 Bersa pistol from a man who tried to elude the police along the Bull Savannah Main Road.

According to preliminary reports, detectives acted on the information at about 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023. They conducted a special operation in the area, searching for a man the police believed was carrying an illegal firearm.

The police subsequently spotted the man driving a motor vehicle and signaled him to stop. But the driver reportedly disobeyed the police and continued driving.

The police gave chase, and the man allegedly threw an object resembling a firearm through the front passenger window.
The police intercepted the vehicle and recovered the firearm. The police then arrested the man.

Miguel Hyman o/c shot and killed in Pimento Walk, St Ann.

ST Ann, Jamaica – Gunmen shot and killed a man in Pimento Walk, St Ann, on Friday morning, February 17, 2023. The police identified him as 31-year-old chef Miguel Hyman, otherwise called ‘Shane’ of Pimento Walk.

According to early reports, at about 12:12 am, residents of Pimento Walk heard loud explosions that sounded like gunshots and called the police.

Upon arrival, the law enforcement officers found Hyman suffering from gunshot wounds.

They took the wounded man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A Hannah Town man was gunned down by an unknown assailant on Drummond street Thursday morning, February 16, 2023, while walking his dog. The shooting left the area tense.

The police identified the deceased as 50-year-old Courtney Wright, o/c ‘Mackerel.’

According to the police’s Corporate Communications Unit, at about 6:50 am, residents reported hearing explosions on Drummond Street and alerted the police. Upon arrival, the law enforcement officers found Wright lying face down in the street in a pool of blood with bullet wounds to his head. The police took the injured man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Speaking to the Star, one of the deceased neighbors said Wright was walking his dog when he was attacked from behind. The neighbor also said Wright was attacked sometime last year following the killing of two relatives.

Wright’s neighbor added that the senseless tit-for-tat killings result from an ongoing gang feud between the Upsetta Mafia and Super Star gangs.
