It is good to hear the police talking about snap raids and targeted ops instead of SOEs. However, those with law enforcement experience know that SOEs are band-aid/temporary measures. And since the Government is bound by law to announce them before they start, they could be better crime-fighting tools.
A suitable crime-fighting device must include an element of surprise. A criminal should not know when the police are coming to knock on their door. SOEs give criminals time to either leave the zone or hide their guns. Snap raids and targeted ops are suitable and have been proven to bear much more fruits than SOEs.
