Licensed firearm holder shoots student while breaking up a brawl.

The two shooting incidents in St Thomas on January 17, 202, left a factory manager and a male student nursing wounds.

The student, who attends the St Thomas Technical High School in Golden Grove, was shot in the buttocks by a licensed firearm holder while attempting to break up a brawl outside the institution’s gates.

According to Deputy Superintendent Oneil Thompson, the operations officer for the St Thomas Police Division, the wounded youngster was recovering in the hospital.

Superintendent Thompson said there was a brawl between two or more students in the vicinity of the school. And one used a knife to stab another, and a licensed firearm holder intervened and discharged his firearm.

The second shooting occurred at the Serge Island Dairy Farm in Seafort where a manager was shot and injured on the compound by an unknown assailant.

Superintendent Thompson said the shooting took place at about 2:30 pm. And the manager, who is a licensed firearm holder, was attacked while walking to his cottage.

“We are in the process of searching for that weapon. We cannot say if the assailant took the firearm now. But we are investigating that also,” he said.
